Almost a kilometre long, the walls extended from the castle. The oldest archaeological remains locate the existence of a fortress prior to the 11th century. The growth of the city requires the restructuration of its walls so Segorbe will experience over the centuries different modifications and extensions. The remaining walls belong to the 14th century layout and can still be seen in Argén Street, where we find the panel framing the Moorish arches of the Portal of the Argén, the old gateway to the city, dating from the 11th century.
