Conserved remains of one of the eight doors and one of the towers of the walled enclosure of Sant Mateu situated in calle Maestrat.
The mountain wall that surrounded the city was made from masonry, of variable thickness, with an average height of 6 meters including the crenels. The perimeter was 1,600 meters.
The remains of the eight doors and the rest of the defensive towers were still conserved. These entrances were: the Xert gate, the Barcelona gate that until 1918 retained the arched access door, the Boveral gate, the Vedella gate, the Santa Domingo gate, the Morella gate, the Cantacorops Tower, the Albocásser gate and the Valencia gate.
