Castellón province has eight natural parks, making this the second province in Spain in as far as number of mountains and the one with the most areas benefiting from this level of protection.
The natural parks of Castellón are managed by the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian regional government), each of them have their own nature interpretation centre, and most of them have signposted itineraries, guided visits to the park, interpretation panels, leaflets, parking areas, leisure and picnic areas, etc.
The good road network and proximity to the main municipalities of the province makes these natural areas a perfect place to visit and an ideal starting point for excursions on any of the numerous hiking routes they house, this being an activity which is practiced nearly all year round.
