The archaeological remains found prove the existence of a protohistoric habitat at the “Els Castellets” and “Vilarroig” settlements from the 7th and 5th century BC, respectively. Likewise, a Via Augusta Milestone (4th century AD) is located in the Main Square and Roman coins and other vestiges have been found in the town centre. Particularly noteworthy is a bronze statue of Hercules (1943).
