Cueva Santa sanctuary


Altura

The Santuario de la Cueva Santa (the Saint Cave Sanctuary) is located at 811 m above sea level and 12 km away from the town of Altura.

This an important place of worship and pilgrimage since time immemorial which took special significance for Christianity since the discovery, in 1502, of an statue of the virgin to which they attribute an several miraculous actions.

Nowadays, a relief in alabaster attributed to Bonifacio Ferrer is venerated in this natural cavity. It is an object of worship and continuous pilgrimages from the Alto Palancia towns and their surroundings throughout the year. Likewise, the statue of the patron saint of Spanish cavers is venerated.
