In the medieval period La Torre d'En Besora had four defensive towers, built between the 13th and 14th centuries. Generally they were square with masonry walls reinforced with ashlars in the corners. They had a ground floor and two floors, with linteled windows and an inclined roof with pyramidal battlements.
The Madoc Tower, located on the way to La Torre d'En Besora from Culla, is a visible example of these fortified towers that bestowed La Torre d'En Besora with its name (torre means tower in Valencian).
