The last segment of the structure encloses what is now St. Roch Chapel (formerly the Old St. Agatha chapel), the walls of which complete the enclosure of the first wall surrounding the town. The keep that remains at its feet is part of the old Arab castle.
Construction of the chapel began as a result of the Christian Reconquista which can be seen in the main body, which is built in a style known as “Reconquest Gothic”. It’s one of the few examples remaining anywhere in Valencia of this style. The chevet is built in the initial Gothic style.
The importance of this chapel lies in the fact that it reflects the movement from Arab to Gothic art.
