Fountains

Fuente del Río
Located in the “la Calzada” area.
This fountain by the river was built in 1927 in order to provide the village of Sot de Ferrer with water. It consists of an enclosure surrounded by a small wall. Some stairs lead down to the spout itself, which holds a tiled reproduction of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, to whom the fountain is dedicated.

Fuente del Junquillo
Located in the “el Conde” area.
This fountain arises from a small slope, product of the infiltration of water high up in the Barranco de la Hoya de Aldaya cliffs. A tube and small overflow channel have been installed in this slope. The sluice empties water out into the riverbed around 5 metres away from the fountain.

Fuente del Pozuelo
The Fuente del Pozuelo was built in 1926 in order to provide the village of Sot de Ferrer with water. The original fountain consists of a wall from which the tube emerges. The purpose of the wall is to hold up the earth slope and it also houses the receptacle where the water collects. The fountain is currently out-of-use and its water is channelled by a system of catch basins and sent to a town located a few metres downstream.

Fuente del Sacristán
Located in the “Marín” area
The fountain rises in a small incline next to the river, product of the infiltration of water from upstream in the river’s course, such as the infiltration of water from the thalweg in the “Marín” hill. A receptacle has been installed in this slope, which holds the water that filters through the earth. There is also a sluice which empties water out into the riverbed around 5 metres away from the fountain.
