Castillo de Ganalur or Yacimiento del Castillet

Тога

This Iberian village sits on a hill that dominates a large meander in the River Mijares. Remains from the Iberian Era (500 B.C. to 100 B.C.) and the Moorish Era (8th century) have been found at this site. All that is left today are the remains of some ceramics, as a later medieval occupation destroyed all signs of the Iberian settlement’s layout. With regards to the Moorish settlement, it appears to correspond to the Ganalur style, mentioned in 13th and 14th century documents. It is undoubtedly the origin of the village of Vallat, which is only 2 kilometres away as the crow flies. The rest of the remains of the buildings are dotted around in the area’s thick vegetation.
