It was founded on the 25th of January 1239, when the Aragonese nobleman Don Blasco de Alagón, King James I's lieutenant, granted the charter to Don Juan de Brusca and 30 settlers, who would be governed under the jurisdiction Aragón. The village later changed hands on a number of occasions. It was elevated to the status of Villa (Town) during the rule of Artal de Alagón (1275-1293).

Albocàsser is located on the hillside, surrounded by almond and olive trees. Within the layout of the village's urban centre, we can make out the rectangular shape of the Medieval structure, which was once hemmed in by walls and dominated by the castle.
Economy
Agriculture (olive and almond trees) and livestock (chiefly grazing and pig and poultry farming). There is little industry, and what industry does exist is related to agriculture, nuts, oil, as well as textiles and clothing manufacturing.What to see
In the upper part of the town we find the Plaza Mayor, presided over by the Town Hall and the Parish Church. Its topography is simple, with wide, straight streets that run up or parallel to the main square.Landscape
