Our Lady of the Fountain Chapel

Torre Endoménech

There is a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Fountain, where a 15th century stone image some 32 centimetres high in the niche on the facade was venerated. This Mary on the Mantel was unique in that she was holding Baby Jesus on her right arm. Mary was wearing a royal fleur de lis crown over parted hair that fell abundantly over both shoulders in addition to a tunic with a belt at the waist and a pleated cloak gathered with both hands while holding Baby Jesus. He was dressed in a tunic and had a little bird in his hands. There were gold remains on Mary’s crown and on Baby Jesus’ hair. This image was destroyed in 1936. Bit of it were later found by some of the locals and it was reconstructed.
