The town’s primitive church, dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, is found on the Calvary grounds. Morellano Gothic in style, it was used for defence purposes. This church is from the Reconquest,
originally dating back to the 15th century. It underwent several renovations in the late 16th century.
Fresco paintings from different eras have been found in the altar section.
