La Pobla Tornesa

The primitive origins of La Pobla can be found on the hill of La Balaguera, where there is evidence of settlement from the Bronze Age through to the end of the Middle Ages. The Roman Via Augusta passed by the bottom of this hill. After the Christian conquest it belonged to the Lordship of Montornés. The origins of the town's current location go back to an inn which could be found on the Royal road and around which the present-day street plan gradually formed.
Economy
At present the main economic activity is the ceramic industry, followed in importance by the service sector.
