These are the town’s most iconic celebrations. They take place on the Friday and Sunday of the second week of Easter. It features the Santo bonfire, masses and processions in honour of San Francisco, and people share the traditional Arroz del Santo, which is a typical rice dish that has been blessed by the town’s priest. This ritual of sharing the rice has existed for 400 years, ever since the monks of the convent of San Francisco de Paula initiated these celebrations. As well as religious ceremonies, highlights include big street parties and various children’s activities.
