The old prison, right next to the church in the street Calle Cavallers, was used as such throughout history up until the Spanish Civil War, when a few Republican fighters were locked up there waiting for someone to come for them to be transferred to different prisons. They were the final “tenants”. Later on and for a short time, it was used as a school for girls (the boys went to school on the first floor of the town hall building, now the doctor’s office). It is currently being used as an emblematic venue for various cultural events such as talks, painting exhibits, book presentations, photography exhibits, mycology exhibits...
