It was founded by the "Noradors from Bejís" after the Reconquest. Originally a group of poor houses, as it grew in importance it was granted jurisdiction, being designated an independent municipal district in 1552.
Industries include small trade, agriculture and livestock. A small food industry has also developed, on the basis of patés and anchovies.
Enjoy strolling through the streets, starting out from the main square, where you will find the Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza parish church, from the 15th and 17th century, and the singular building of the Town Hall. Then plunge into the narrow streets, with whitewashed houses and an authentic rural flavour. The sound of water is present throughout the village, with fountains including the Fuente del Santo and del Raval, the Fuente Nueva, the Fuente de la Replaceta, the Fuente Azul, and many more. In the upper part of the village lies the Calvary, a former public washing place and the Moorish furnace.

The Palancia river, which has its source at Los Cloticos beauty spot, flows right by the village, fostering a rich and varied vegetation and excellent land for farming. Nature has also blessed the village of Teresa with several high-quality springs, such as the Fuente del Contís, Batán, Fuente del Berro, Royo, the Fuente del Peral, del Nano and the Fuente del Río.
