The town of Arañuel is of Moorish origin. It has been settled since the year 786 of the Christian calendar. Though evidence has been found of human occupation during the Iberian Era, this was totally scattered.

Economy

The economy revolves around agriculture, with irrigation and rain-fed farming and enough oil production to require three mills, being its staple products.

What to see

The municipality is situated on a small plain at the foot of a hill and organized around the main square, where we find the Parish Church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, and tall, narrow houses. The San Roque hermitage, just outside the village, offers wonderful views over the landscape.

Landscape

The district is full of interesting places and landscapes. Arañuel's landscape is characterized by an abundance of water. We find natural pools down by the river, formed by the various meanders on which the river embarks in the area.
