The celebration in honour of Saint Anthony the Abbott (Anthony the Great), patron saint of animals, has a long and rich tradition in Peñíscola. Throughout the weekend parades of carts decked out for the occasion are organized, as the farmers and locals have their animals blessed. Moscatel wine and typical roscos (ring-shaped sweet rolls) blessed by the local priest, are given out to the crowd. At night, bonfires are lit, around which visitors can join in the partying and sample typical grilled products from the City in the Sea.
