The 12th-century Sueras Castle, of Muslim origin, is located at the top of the Suera Alta hill, at an altitude of 582 m. El Castillo de Mauz, of Arabian origin, was built in the 12th century and is located at the top of the Suera Alta, at an altitude of 582 m. It is in ruins, but its stark silhouette makes it one of the most impressive castles in the entire Sierra de Espadán. Even the great stretches of wall and the lower part of what used to be the main tower may be appreciated. It used to protect four Muslim hamlets that, following the Islamic conquest, were grouped into one village centre, which is now the modern-day Sueras. The castle is called Sueras Castle, however during the Islamic era it was known as the Castillo de Mauz.
