There are remnants of the wall that fortified Moncofa, which was built during the reign of Pere IV, between 1330 and 1340, to defend the town from banditry and the attacks of Berber pirates, who from raids by sea sacked the coastal towns. It had 2 doors. 1 to the North, the portal of Nules and another to the Southwest, the Portal del Mar, with attached tower.
