The town of Les Useres was conquered by Don Ximén de Urrea on the 24th of July 1233. Later the Urreas take on the title of Counts of Aranda and in 1818, L’Alcalatén and Les Useres come under Crown rule. On the 27th of April 1224, L'Alcalatén is placed under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Tortosa.

Landscape


The municipality covers an area of over 80 km2 and has an average altitude of 400 m above sea level. The landscape has several ravines and mountains (the highest being Penyarroja, at 800 m). Les Useres is made up of the municipality of the same name, as well as the surrounding towns of Las Grevadas, Pou Encalvo, Mas Blanch and Picaudo. The climate is moderate.
