The patron saint festivities are held in honour of San Mateo and the Sacred Relics on September 21st and 22nd every year. A great variety of shows, popular dances (such as the Ball de l’Anguila), exhibitions, theatre plays, bull runs, torched bulls, etc... take place. However, a very old tradition still remains and is worth seeing and admiring: the construction of the Sant Mateu Arch, which takes place the night before the saint’s festivity. Young locals go through vegetable gardens and fields collecting all kinds of fruits and vegetables. Then, they offer them to the saint in a monumental arch formed by four arcades, which they erect in front of the façade of the door of the parish church so that it protects their gardens and fields against harmful storms and hail.
