The "Ruta de la Vía Augusta y El Mas de la Teuleria" route is one of the seven most unique routes that make up the well-known route of the thousand-year olive trees in the region of Baix Maestrat. It passes through the town of La Salzadella and aims to offer a complementary offer to the visitors of the in-land regions which enables them to discover the heritage, gastronomy, territory, culture and architectural heritage. At 16 km long, it can be walked or even completed on quad bike.
Leaving from La Salzadella, we take the Camí de les Gatelleres way. The scenery on both sides of the path are covered with olive, almond and cherry trees. After crossing the Barranc de la Font d'En Seguer ravine, we follow the signs towards the right, we here can also see the blue and white signs of the Vía Augusta way. Continuing along the Camí de les Jaqueses way, we find a concentration of thousand year old olive trees, and further on, we cross the CV-10 road reaching the Barranc del Riu Segarra, after passing some farms.
When the path stops ascending, we find various concentrations of olive trees, some of which are monumental and accompanied by cherry trees. Later, the route leads in parallel to the Barranc del Forat ravine and, from this point, we find various farmhouses which show the importance and intense activity of, among others, the farm of el Mas de la Teuleria.
After passing close to the farms of Mas l'Andalús de Dalt and Baix, level with the Barranc de les Socarrades ravine, there is a new concentration of thousand year old olive trees. Following the route we find the Santa Bárbara chapel and, eventually, La Salzadella. This final section of the route coincides with the Vía Augusta way, the largest Roman road in the Iberian Peninsular.
