La Vall d’Uixó Castle
Declared a Site of Cultural Interest
The Castle, which was on the so-called Tossal de la Noguera, near the current town, is of Muslim origin. Due to the history and construction, it’s the most important one of those that existed in the eastern half of the Sierra Espadán mountains.
It is currently in almost complete ruins with only several sections of the walls noticeable in addition to the bases of some of the towers - especially the fortress - as well as the remains of Arab cisterns and outbuildings. The grand parade ground has also been conserved as well as some of the Christian modifications carried out during the 13th century by master builder Guillem de Barcelona.
