The armies of James I liberated the town from Saracen control. Don Guillem d'Anglesola and his wife donated the place, the farm houses of Vilar de Canes, to Bernardo de Montpalau and his wife Guillema, in 1272, and a group of its settlers were granted the Town Charter in 1316.

Economy

The main economic activity is the cultivation of almonds and olives. Another important activity intensive livestock farming.

You can enjoy wandering around the typical streets and visit the parish church dedicated to San Lorenzo, patron saint of this small town.

The average elevation is 668 m above sea level, the climate is Mediterranean, and the municipal district covers a total of 15.90 km2. The district is home to various natural springs dotted around beautiful landscapes and surrounded by vegetation - ideal for a few hours' entertainment.
