This settlement is believed to have been founded by the Moors of Bejís. The village was regarded as a subject of Bejís until 1842, when it split off and formed its own municipal district and an independent jurisdiction.

Economy


The main crops are almonds, along with olives. 

What to see


Within the old town, highlights include the parish church dedicated to the Holy Christ.

Landscape


Set 800 m. above sea level, almost at the geometric centre of the circle formed by the Pina, Javalambre and Andilla mountains to the north, west and south respectively. There are no significant elevations to the south. The climate is continental, with an average temperature of 5º in January and 22º in August.
