Гайбьель

A municipality with Arabic origins, in 1237 it was given to Don Pedro Garcés de Roda by King James I. It was later ruled by Don Fernando López de Heredia before subsequently passing into the jurisdiction of Don Gerónimo Garcés Carrillo de Mendoza, Count of Priego, with its Town Charter being granted in 1639.

Economy

It is mainly based on agriculture. The main crops are olive trees and almond trees. Stockbreeding is a minor activity.


What to see

 
Visit the Plaza Mayor, home to the San Pedro Apóstol Parish Church, and the San Blas hermitage, situated at the end of the street of the same name.

Landscape


Located 517 m above sea level, surrounded by mountains, with a climate that is typical of the area, and typically Mediterranean. The highest point is the peak of mount La Carrasca, at an altitude of 713 m.
