The Araia festival is celebrated around 15 August.
In the middle of the hottest part of summer, and to kick off L’Alcora’s patron saint celebrations, Araia hosts its festival in honour of the patron saints San Joaquín and Santa Ana. During these celebrations, the residents of Araia’s country houses reunite with those who were originally from this district but now live elsewhere, and also with summer visitors and all those who wish to participate in these very busy events. The schedule includes heifer running, toro embolado (where people are chased through the streets by a bull with flaming torches attached to its horns), children’s activities, games, music and the opportunity to taste local foods.
Araia’s natural environment and unique urban configuration give these celebrations a very welcoming and relaxed character.
