San Antonio Festival
The “Matxà” of San Antonio is held on the Sunday closer to January 17th in Benafigos. This typical festivity commences with the animal blessing, the delivery of the lighted “hachas” (wide candles) that will lead the procession, followed by the male animals and the rest of them and, finally, the image of San Antonio. Once the procession has finished, rolls and little glasses of wine are given out. Afterwards, the typical snack is offered in the cultural premises, with “delgados”, “cascanya”, sweet cakes, rolls, honey, walnuts, moscatel wine, anisette and wine. The typical prayers and religious singing take place on the day of the Saint.
