The festival of fire
The festivals in honour of San Antonio Abad are held on the weekend closest to 17 January and they have three distinctive elements: the San Antón bonfire, the blessing of animals, and the distribution of the blessed roll of San Antonio.
The San Antón bonfire burns in Raval square, where chocolate and sweets are given to all those who stand around the flames. Next day is the procession and the blessing of animals, and it is also when the typical blessed rolls are distributed. In past years, this animal parade has become a magnificent horse show, where the inhabitants of Onda can show off their great passion for this activity.
