San Antonio

These celebrations take place during the weekend closest to 17 January. The festival organisers prepare the bonfire, which is popularly known as ‘la Barraca’. The weekend schedule consists of setting up the ‘Barraca’ on the Saturday morning, followed by the blessing of animals in honour of ‘Sant Antoni del Porquet’ in the evening. Then there are dances, the bonfire is lit, a performance narrating the Saint’s life is staged, and food is eaten around the bonfire. This is followed by an traditional fair and then, on Sunday, there is Holy Mass and a procession in honour of the Saint.
