Easter Holy Week

The magnificence and solemnity of processions in La Vall d’Uixó became extinct during the 60's. Twenty-two years later, a small number of representatives of the association set two purposes. The first one involved getting the solemn processions back to our streets with the five penitent associations, in the night, the drum roll and the parade with jewellery and beautiful plinths. The other one involved creating a Board of Religious Associations to bring and keep them together.

The Board of Religious Associations that can be found in La Vall d’Uixó and that parade in Easter Holy Week are:

  • Ecce-Hommo
  • Nazarene Jesus and Santa Faz
  • Purest Blood and Holy Sepulchre
  • Granaderos de la Virgen de los Dolores
  • Mare de Dèu al Peu de la Creu.

The solemnity of the processions, the fervour and the passion make our town smell of the spring and Easter Holy Week. The procession of the night from Holy Thursday to Good Friday, the procession of the Holy Burial in the night of the Holy Friday and the Holy Meeting on Easter Sunday crowd the streets with “Confrares” and devotion.
