It consists of a Gothic, square-based tower, a hostelry and semi-circular arched doorways. The interior houses some interesting paintings, one pointed arch, the staircase and a period oven. In addition, the ensemble includes a chapel dedicated to the patron saints of the town: the Virgen de la Esperanza and Saints Fabián and Sebastián.
Its military purpose was to block and protect the route through the Atzeneta Hill, which is the main access to the town from the Lucena mountain range. The complex, which looks well and is restored, is in good condition and is really beautiful. The enclosure has also a recreation area with paella making facilities, a fountain, tables, chairs, rubbish collection services and a car park.
