The Holy Week begins with the traditional Encounter of Gongs and Drums where we can see bands from different cities or towns of the province of Castellón, Tarragona and Teruel. The processions, held at dusk, and the religious acts take place mainly on Thursday and Friday. Pasos, an elaborated parade float made for religious processions, and religious images with an important artistic value go out of the churches and chapels. The first procession takes place on Ash Wednesday at five o’clock in the morning, and it is known as Processó de la Matinada: a liturgical act recovered a few years ago, which has a long tradition. On Thursday and Friday evening, the streets of the historic centre of Vinaròs are crowded with people who come to contemplate the solemn processions of the brotherhoods and their images. The last one is the procession of the Resurrection, which takes place on Easter Sunday. During Easter time, there are also concerts and exhibitions that make of these religious festivals a cultural and festive event. Festivity declared of Autonomic Tourist Interest.
