Holy Week

Brotherhood and Drumming Procession. Pilgrimage to the ermitas, or small churches, since the 20th century. On the Saturday after Easter Sunday, a group of pilgrims, accompanied by the priest, pass through all of the town’s ermitas while singing traditional couplets. This 35 km walk comes to an end in the parish church.

This event is especially important as it has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. The Rompida, or breaking of the hour, happens at midday on Good Friday and involves over 1,000 drummers from the province coming together to express their emotion for the agony and death of Jesus through the thunderous noise of their instruments.
