The Calvary

Artana

From the Pardinal neighbourhood, visitors can head up the winding alleys and the oldest places in town to the Via Crucis that leads through tall, old cypress trees and the various stations to the Christ of Calvary chapel which is also station number 12. The image housed in this small, white-walled chapel is very much cherished by the people of Artana. In fact, one of the most massive processions of the year is held here on the first Sunday after Easter, when the Christ of Calvary is taken into to the town and then later returned to this peaceful chapel.
