A walk through the sites that were home to the Iberians, Romans and the Andalusi - Castelló de la Plana

“Castellón Arqueológico” is a trip to the past through different itineraries that allow you to visit and discover the architectural, urban and natural environment as the Castellón population would have experienced it from the second millennium before Christ to the first millennium A.D. It is a journey through the places that were home to the Iberians, Romans and Andalusi; an environment in which Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks and Romans established a commercial network that gave rise to extensive development with major technical, social and religious innovations that have lasted to the present day.

“Castellón Arqueológico” combines an important historical educational objective with an attractive offering of signposted routes where the visitor can relive other times and enjoy the archaeological treasures of Castellón.

“Castellón Arquelógico” boasts archaeological sites as emblematic as “Puig de la Misericòrdia” and “Perengil” in Vinaròs, “Puig de la Nau” in Benicarló and “Santa Llúcia” in Alcalà de Xivert, all sites in exceptional condition, which are now open for the enjoyment of the general public. Along with this another fifteen municipalities will be added to the Castellón Arqueológico project with another seventeen archaeological sites (“El Mortorum” in Cabanes, “Los Morrones” in Cortes de Arneoso, “Santa” de l'Alcora, “Cabañiles” de Zucaina, “Tossal de la Vila” in the Serra d'en Galcerán, “Els Estrets” de Vilafamés, “Moleta dels Frares” in Forcall, “Arco Romano” in Cabanes, “Poblado Ibero de Sant Josep” in the Vall d'Uixò, “Villa Romana de Benicató” in Nules, an more.).
